The Great Northern Textile Show is a great place to start or grow your passion for textiles, and one great way to do that is to chat to and join a group or guild! ‘A guild is an association of artisans and merchants who oversee the practice of their craft/trade in a particular territory’ – and we have lots! Here is who we have onsite.
Yarn Addicts of Manchester
We are a knitting and crochet group based in Manchester. We will exhibit items made by members in the group.

International Feltmakers Association
The International Feltmakers Association will have demonstrations and invite visitors to sit with them and ‘have a go’. With them they will have bring a display of felted items made by their members, to demonstrate a wide variety felting techniques and applications.
North Cheshire Guild of Spinners Weavers and Dyers
The aim of the North Cheshire Guild of Spinners, Weavers and Dyers is to preserve and promote the crafts of hand-weaving, spinning and dyeing for the benefit of the public and to encourage and maintain integrity and excellence of craftsmanship. They are a friendly group with about 50 members who meet once a month for talks, workshops and skill share days. Anyone with an interest in textiles is welcome to join. They will have a selection of work with examples of spinning, weaving and dyeing. They will demonstrate spinning with different wheels as well as having examples of portable weaving looms.

Region 13 of The Quilters’ Guild of The British Isles
Region 13 of the Quilters Guild of the British Isles (QGBI) covers North Wales, Cheshire, Merseyside, Greater Manchester, Lancashire and the Isle of Man. A committee of volunteers organises talks and workshops throughout the year. Regional events are held twice a year in Frodsham, and Area events take place throughout the Region. A newsletter, Quilt North West, is published three times a year, and there is also a monthly digital newsletter, Points New West. Both keep members up to date with events in the Region. The QGBI organises many and varied events, information about which can be found on the website. The Guild welcomes new members of all levels.
The Region 13 stand will celebrate the crafts of patchwork & quilting, and the display will include a variety of quilts. Region 13 members will be on hand to talk about the Guild.
